Young’s Double-Slit Experiment

 Young’s Double-Slit Experiment

The wavefronts of light coming from a source produce nearly cylindrical wavefronts when passed through the two slits.

The two produced wavefronts interfere with each other and form the bright and dark fringe shown to the right.

The solid line shows the constructive interference between the waves when they interfere. However, the dotted line shows the destructive interference between the light waves.

As a result, the constructive interference shows a bright band and the destructive interference shows a dark band on the screen.
